Railway budget-2015-Expectations

Railway budget-2015

  • parties felt that it's not a non-spicy
  • Mamatha anger at Railway-2015
  • Economists expect long haul to invest railway stocks

Using solar energy in Railways is big deal, launching of waste-to-energy project and increasing  CNG in train operations are some of the green initiatives likely to be announced in the Rail Budget this time.
Illuminate coaches, station buildings and platforms, there are plans for solar energy generation plants in production units and workshops.
The Minister wants maximum use of alternative fuel in rail operations and the budget will
reflect the same.

An across-the-board increase in railway fares is unlikely to be announced in the Railway Budget, with Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu set to rely on higher support from the main Budget, joint ventures with the private sector and soft financing from other countries to put the financially derailed organisation back on track.

However, 'minor adjustments' in fares of
Tatkal and premium special trains that run on dynamic pricing cannot not be ruled out, an official told ET.

What does Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu's Rail Budget have in store for the common man? Will there be rail fare hike or announcement of new trains? Will 2015 see cleaner stations and better connectivity?

take a look at seven things common-man can expect from Rail Budget 2015

Prabhu's immediate focus will be to finish existing projects rather announce new big-ticket schemes.
Indian Railways need at least Rs 1.8
lakh crore just to complete 359 pending rail projects. Even among the new lines, the emphasis is likely to be on improving connectivity in border areas, especially in the Northeastern states along the border with China.

Prabhu is likely to announce a slew of measures including installation of CCTV cameras in coaches of all express and mail trains to control growing incidents of crime against women travelers.
Railway Protection Force (RPF) and launch of a mobile app, designed especially for women commuters.

With Railways reeling under a financial crunch, the number of new trains to be announced in the Rail Budget is unlikely to be more than 100, much less than what is the normal practice every year.

The Railways to announce launching of about 150 to 180 new trains in its budget every year. About 160 trains were announced last year.

According to sources,
Prabhu may just take a different approach by not announcing too many new trains in his maiden budget speech and instead do it gradually over the course of the year

In line with the 'Swachh Bharat' campaign, the railways will propose to cover 100 more trains under 'On Board Housekeeping Services' and extent bio-toilets in trains and stations.
